#LOBLAWS
Looks like the Loblaws that's barely visible at the left edge of the first photo is no longer standing and would have been about where the current Pizza Nova is located.

Yah. Fortino’s was a very successful independent and locally owned grocery store years ago in the Hamilton area. Weston’s bought them out and kept the name in Hamilton but for all intents and purposes, it’s a Loblaws.

Fortino’s is owned by Loblaws - Galen Weston (the snake).

I don't know what Fortino's is. The only Loblaws stores we have in Manitoba is Superstore and No Frills and Shoppers

Loblaws, Sobeys and Metro in Canada have started replacing their pricing signs with the new digital ones that can do surveillance prices.
What is surveillance pricing and is it coming to a grocery store near you?

Every month, I choose a photo for my journal that sums up the mood of the previous four weeks and wow, does this shot of the drone monstrosity Loblaws unleashed over King St. during TIFF to promote their AI health-data-hoarding chatbot ever deliver 😡

Loblaws,Sobey's & Metro Inc put the bottom line($) 1st over their customers, cuz even if it's publicly traded, then it's dividends, none of which benefits 80% of Canadians. The Weston & Sobey families involved in the fraudulent bread pricing issue is an eg that they, like all billionaires, are greedy.

Loblaws took in billions in revenue, they'll be fine w smaller margins

It's more important that people get affordable food than corporations make profits.

It is corporate greed stealing from Canadians which causes high grocery prices.

The issue is you're a corporate owned puppet

Is it a Loblaws gift card I can use to buy bread?

From now on I'm bringing my sharpie grocery shopping. Getting sick and tired of having to check every peice of produce. We know they are doing this on purpose #Sobeys #Safeway #Superstore #Loblaws #Walmart #SaveOnFoods #Metro
At my local FreshCo...

Shelf tag says product of Canada. Actual produce is product of USA.

Stuff like this happens CONSTANTLY.

We could be supporting our local farmers and vendors far better if #TimHouston put funding directly into local farmers markets instead of feeding large businesses such as #Sobeys #Loblaws #Walmart just so they can advertise local products.

But there are plenty of options for everyone too. I have several grocery stores within a 10 minute drive. Loblaws and No Frills from the Loblaws family, Farm Boy and FreshCo from the Sobey's family, Metro and Food Basics from the Metro family, plus Walmart and Costco. There is competition.

Again, you have the choice to support that or not. If you choose not to boycott Loblaws because they have a specific kind of apple that you can't get elsewhere maybe you aren't as worried about labour, customers doing unpaid labour, or one person doing multiple jobs than you believe you are.

Not from me. I’ve been in a Loblaws twice in about 6 years. And I do not miss them.
September 29, 2026 at 4:07 PM
Same same. Costco, we do most of our veggies through OddBunch, which is fantastic company, and some stuff at a local fruit market. Loblaws is mostly for picking up things like apples in varieties smaller places don’t have. Need my kids to eat a fruit.

I have never seen this at a Loblaws. That’s wild

The new normal at large grocery stores. 11 cash registers, zero cashiers working. Everyone funnelled into self-service, while one person at customer service doubles as an impromptu cashier for the elderly while also handling the customer service line. Loblaws continues to make record profits.

Tragically*, I already have most of your books, so I tipped you enough (I hope) for a small cake or what-have-you at whatever Loblaws-owned subsidiary is closest. Or potatoes. You do you!

*oh the pain! How I suffer! Having lots of fun books to read sucks!
