Seconded. Frankly I was relieved when Lucas sold out. Rogue One proved it wasn't the series that had run out of gas but it's creator. Mind you, LOTR hit the same bump with Peter Jackson with the Hobbit movies.

Honestly though, I will watch the Star Wars prequels again with the right expectations.
I'm never revisiting things like The Matrix trilogy, or the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
The prequels were never as bad as the hype, but they are nothing like as good as LotR.

Yeah, Yeah, people were completely rational about the Phantom Menace. youtu.be/Oug3AtAht6Y?...

Here's hoping I survive too if I get grilled some day xD I've been on break for a year so I feel I know stuff but feel I'd struggle if pushed and grilled like that.
I have been watching LoTR. I want my thesis to be like that series, handcrafted and perfect. AI seems antithetical to pulling that off

Never easy, but let's say:
LotR: Two Towers
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Master and Commander
Leon

Let's go Letterboxd-style with this:

I was a very active theatre-kid in school. Adulthood came and I needed paid, so I went into the workforce (dive bar/ radio DJ) for a number of years. I was moving to AoNZ, and my then-partner joked that i might end up on LotR because the second film was being shot..

Remeber when WOTC had a ton of layoffs a couple of years ago? Right after LOTR became the best selling set of all time until FF broke that record? Hmmm

Wizards of the Coast workers are once again attempting to unionise. Once again, parent company Hasbro has not provided voluntary recognition.

If anything my newfound general disappointment made LOTR that much better , I no longer cared where it differed from the books
Because nothing after that could ever be as bad as Phantom Menace but conversely nothing was ever going to worth getting excited about again

It made the serious LotR nerds VERY grumpy.
We jumped from Weathertop to the door of the Mines of Moria, and you could HEAR the confusion start instantly.

That's a good point! I had beef with LotR but watching the prequels was like going through the motions in a failed relationship. I came around in recent years, because of The Clone Wars, but I still don't think they're great. Then again, these have always been movies for kids and the kids liked 'em.

Phantom Menace killed my belief in cinema and LOTR restored it. I was so bummed after TPM that I was the curmudgeon telling my friends to not get excited about Fellowship, the trailer was meh, they'd already fucked up Star Wars and they'd fuck this up too. I was so so glad to be wrong
