There’s a public interest in people actually understanding what an LPA is and does and how it can go wrong, you probably need a hook to get people to pay attention. But that’s not really the story.

Yeah, I guess what I was going for here is that the customer service degradations (especially staff deskilling) are not unique to LPA processes.

My somewhat considered thoughts on managing others' affairs via LPA is that the difficulty isn't really about LPA but rather reflects trends in customer service management, problems with old computer systems, and a lack of social workers.

My experience is that the anti-fraud checks are almost impossible to surmount with LPA. Makes it impossible to manage affairs thru actively using the market which is v frustrating.

I have found getting the email address of the team that deals with LPA / POA to be the best way of shortcutting this where possible.

It's very difficult for anyone to challenge lasting power of attorney. I imagine it needs a court order with a high threshold of evidence, as the possible incentives for maliciously challenging an LPA are many.
