What an incredibly beautiful day to be out and about in Chicago!

The Lincoln Park Conservatory Spring show was also very beautiful. And the LPZoo animals were loving the warmer temperatures.

There’s a lot of truth to that. LPZoo used to have an ape house that was wildly fugly: super vertical, metal poles with loops on them, etc.

The apes LOVED it and showed their pleasure by record breaking reproduction and health. People, however, did not and it was torn down.

I recommend a dry beast (lizard, corn snake, gerbil) over a wet beast simply because of the weekly water testing and changes. When I was at LPZoo, I was much happier when I wasn’t up to my elbows in a tank, siphoning poop out of the gravel. Aquatic animals are also harder to pet—I tried.

The LPZoo herons don't really steal other animals' food or trash that I've ever seen. There are neighboring ponds, a canal, the Chicago river, Lake Michigan and all the water in the Calumet area to the south that provide lots of food. What they value about their zoo roosting location ...

LPZoo has a long history of screwups. Look up how the new entrance gate worked out for them.

LPZoo has a colony of about 500 black-crowned night herons that roost in the trees above the wolf compound every summer.
