#LaFleur
8. SAWYER

On my latest rewatch I was shocked to find that I liked “Confidence Man” more than “Walkabout.” Sawyer is maybe the character who feels most complete from the beginning—his Dostoevskian drive for self-punishment is pure Lindelof wheelhouse—and his arc through season 5 is nearly flawless.

A reaction to how LaFleur and McDaniels tried some new wrinkles? I think it was @cmikesspinmove.bsky.social writing about some of what was schemed up and how the defense was working through it.

“Beating Matt LaFleur twice a year”, well they got one back in January. You got a freebie this go around

LaFleur being a loser about it was predictable but the fans losing their mind is divine.

They’re afraid. Of Tyson Bagent. It’s delicious
The packers fan base and media apparatus are acting INSANE about his upcoming game. They have gone full Brewers with this shit.

Fwiw this is why Ben is the way he is, he's ramping up pressure on that team to perform to his narrative and meet his level of performance. He knows he can instill that in his team, can Lafleur?

I think Sunday against a backup Bears QB is the most must-win game Matt LaFleur has faced as an NFL head coach.

I explain why.

The #Packers OL was better against the Buccaneers, but it was NOT the key to improved blocking and offensive output.

I explain what WAS today for @theleap.bsky.social .

The Packers offensive line was better vs. the Buccaneers, but it’s hardly a problem fixed
Matt LaFleur found better ways to scheme around the Packers offensive line issues, but it’s not like everything is fine after an improved performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Matt LaFleur was PISSED

If only the #Packers had someone I trusted LaFleur to make a similar handoff to...
Canales giving up play calling has genuinely changed the offense. Idzik has much more faith in Bryce and it shows. The operational issues around clock management and getting plays in quickly seem to have been resolved by the change too, it's a massive improvement.

Matt LaFleur gave an honest update on Micah Parsons. The Packers star is more than nine months removed from knee surgery, but his return timeline remains uncertain. atozsports.com/nfl/green-ba...
Matt LaFleur gives honest Micah Parsons update as the Packers star's return timeline keeps uncertain
The star edge defender is more than nine months removed from knee surgery, and Green Bay has a roster mechanism ready to ease his eventual comeback.

LaFleur had a discussion with him afterwards

You’re including the “all gas no brake” era, but he’s 1-2 against BJ who’s out there clowning him.

I’ve defended LaFleur more than most but he needs to grow a spine and man up, so does the team, they look like they have no fight lately and that starts with the coach.

Look, I know it's not a great moment to defend Matt LaFleur.

But it's also hard to say his approach to Bears games is bad. He's 12-3 against them.
Matt is so nice and respectful heading into a game we’re probably about to embarrass ourselves in.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur made it clear Monday that he won’t be engaging in any verbal tête-à-têtes with Bears coach Ben Johnson if they do come up.

GREEN BAY — The war of words in advance of Sunday’s Green Bay Packers-Chicago Bears rivalry game at Lambeau Field started Monday with … no fighting words whatsoever.

Cool. When Lafleur retired in Montréal, the local media members all got a signed, plaque-mounted photo. Class.

Since everyone is talking about Québec tonight, I want to recall the time I drove to Thurso back in 2022 to pay my respects to Guy Lafleur

An old man whistled at me from his veranda, walked across the street and gave me this Molson Export promo card from 1991 that he had lying around his house
