Addiction is not caused by cell death, but by changes in how neural circuits function.

🧠📈 In a new #LabNotes episode, neuroscientist Dr. Luscher what is actually happening in the brain during addiction, and why he believes it is reversible.

And also try to write more "blog" articles, even if it's just the silly little labnotes.

Can anyone suggest non-desktop related routes to find/import contacts from TwitterX to Bluesky for Rob? I know there used to be a web tool (Skeet/labnotes) but it doesn't seem to be active now.
Ok, so it's clear Bluesky is more personally engaging of people than That Other Place.

Now, how do I find people I know already in my real life on here? Do I need to manually search for their names or is there a way to import contacts from phone or something else?

How do you do it?

Scientists used AI to help develop a "digital brain." 🧠📈

In the latest #LabNotes, hear how we used artificial intelligence to stitch together 95 million hi-res images to develop the largest wiring diagram and functional map of a mammalian brain to date.

Something I haven't gotten to say in a while... new lab note today!

It's on a kind of user interface that pops up only occasionally: the extemporaneous UI that allows users to 'wave their wand' & get the interface they need through direct interaction.

LN 041: Extemporaneous UIs
Tear-off menus, quantized semantic zoom, and spatial computational canvases show us one approach to frictionless malleable interfaces.

A sample 1 mm too high shifts an XRD peak about 0.8°. A 785 nm laser sees 12 µm into silicon, a 532 nm laser 0.7 µm.

Same file, different causes. Only the instrument settings tell them apart.
