#Labo(U)r
I don't know why they're called centrist. Objectively they're right wing. They could at last be honest and own it like Labo(u)r right factions elsewhere in the Anglophone world.
Do centrist democrats really like or intend on governing? I think they like the nice neoliberal sweet spot of letting individuals govern themselves and Republicans govern poorly. Sitting back, relaxing, taking the biggest bribes, and tsk-tsking everybody
Right-wing Democrats see an opportunity to take the Senate while keeping a Muslim out of the chamber

😑 permit me to add that it's particularly rich that this enraging sh*te was articulated by someone who has never engaged in productive labo(u)r in their lifetime
First of all this is racist af. Second of all, it’s wildly untrue. And third of all, a group of people does not need to produce science or literature to be fully human or whatever!!! What is this, 1780??? (This is a topic in my book btw)
RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

say Labor honours the feminist promises they made in 2022 and pass the bill. What next? The states and territories probably pass laws authorising public sector workers to lawfully shackle women in labour - literal labo(u)r, geddit - and strip search incarcerated women. Then what?

I think those of us in the labo(u)r movement ought to be honest that unionization affects prices and services offerred: from the cost of groceries to the amount of trains we can run.

The real question is how important is solidarity when it costs you something?

'They're just like this' is the best working explanation for the Labo(u)r Party(ies) I have heard this year. =)

Does Maryland still have a law on the books banning white after Labo(u)r Day?
Republican Rep. Andy Harris incorrectly told a reporter they were breaking the law as the reporter and others recorded an exchange with him last night.

Harris had just wrapped up a debate with Democratic challenger Dan Schwartz.

Labo(u)r parties in both countries took a lot from them in impetus and culture.

These are impressions I've gotten from UK people I follow here, but to my understanding the UK Guardian is what down in Australia I'd call a "Labor Rusted-On", that is someone who is vaguely progressive but generally toes the Labo(u)r party line and deems it the only 'legitimate' left-wing party.

It's literally just that they don't want to be nice to Israel. Like that's genuinely almost the entire point of difference between Labo(u)r/Liberal/Democrats and the various Greens. There's other stuff around tax but really it's just Israel. It's a deranged polity.

I don't know about Canada because it already has another party of the left and I don't know about New Zealand because with proportional elections who the fuck knows, but every study says Labo(u)r and Democratic voters are closer to the Greens than almost all their politicians. It's so cooked.

War bestimmt ein Haufen Läbo(u)r.

Yep. There was a terrific video from an English guy at Modern UK showing what big money did to Labour in Corbyn v Starmer eras. They shaped (again) the potentially threatening party of workers into a lapdog. New Labo(u)r was a mouse that wouldn’t interrupt Neolib/plutocrat counterrevolution.

Once again feeling utterly unhinged as I include the quote from the director of Microsoft "an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions…the largest theft of labo[u]r in human history" then must go on to create slides about how "if you use these tools in your PhD - watch out for confabulation!"

Or just, stop pretending you live in a bubble and understand that one way or another other people DO have a right to the product of your labo/u/r, whether it's your community, your employers, your customers...it's how civilization's worked for millenia.

Look at my labo(u)r mp Dawgggggg I’m goin to get smashed by the far right 😫🤯🤣
It's hard to read this as anything other than complaining bitterly about having to do one's job.

We should have about twenty more Labo(u)r Days.
September 8, 2026 at 3:39 PM
There go my plans for next weekend! At least we got one last Labo(u)r day of whey, molasses and motorcycles.
Breaking: White House issues three proclamations banning imports of Canadian products including motorcycles, whey, molasses, non-alcoholic beer, and a range of alcoholic beverages

Thanks for this. Happy Labo(u)r Day.

Solidarity is always a team sport. 🤝 We’re proud to stand together as players, as workers, and as a union. Happy Labo(u)r Day!

Yes we know, D. Cease is starting a pivotal Labo(u)r Day game for the Jays. But did anyone else in Canada ever play this tabletop baseball card game? Esso Baseball Challenge. Came out in '88.

US Labo(u)r Day should still be on May 1st.

Labo(u)r Day is a good time to remind folks about YOU DESERVE A TECH UNION by @ethanmarcotte.com — collective organizing and worker power is maybe *especially* important for these industries that shape all of our lives, especially now.
