In 1887, the Frank D. Barker was headed for Escanaba, to take on a cargo of iron ore when bad weather sent it off course. It remained missing until 2025. Now, its the 100th shipwreck on the State Register of Historic Places:

My strong suspicion is that the path configuration is a landmarked feature, but this would be a practical improvement. A bit hard to picture them actually doing fencing though.

For years I've been looking for a chimney swift roost in Brooklyn, and no birders I talked to seemed to know of a location. This week a few friends and I found one, in a landmarked old courthouse in Sunset Park, and I wrote about watching this incredible fall migration spectacle.

CA is chaotic in that laundromats and gas stations can be historically landmarked so it’s harder for landlords to discriminate. we haven’t got that far yet in PGH

I watched #Harlem tracing #blackculture from the renascence to gentrification.
One of the things that was fascinating is only 5% of Harlem is landmarked while locations like Greenwich Village are at 60% ! I lived on 123rd before leaving #NYC..

Nah, luxury condos are good. We just had a situation here in NYC where a church was trying to redevelop their property to build housing above the church because they couldn't afford the upkeep, and NIMBY neighbors landmarked the building against their will.
