- David dresses as a historical figure (which one varies every year)
- Sayid dresses as Peter
- Samira dresses as a spy this year but who knows next year
- Peter dresses like normal but tells people he's dressed like someone cursed with immortality. David is not amused

The Fellsden Dragonhood are going as themselves.

Catastrophe Caterwaul of APOSCHÉDIOSIS is dressing as a business logo that is bigger than the business card it's supposed to go on.

Vanessa Whaler is going as the customer who wants the logo bigger.

#latenightwrite Despite my abiding love of H'ween, none of my characters are very inclined to dress up for it. 🤔

Jude's wearing a headband with some glittery antennae on it--maybe shaped like bats--that she snagged from Dollarama, along with her tightest jeans and most sequined top.

In the new RO au: Owen is dressed as a fairytale prince, to go with his cousin Loretta as a princess. Aurum is dressed as a very dashing Robin Hood.

PSI: Lazarus and Carmine snuck into one of Harlan's parties as a demon and angel duo. Harlan, dressed as the Devil himself, let them.

Where do I start? Probably the most current version is C.J. Cherryh's CYTEEN.

#LateNightWrite I'm still really sad about Bioware and in my feels about Dragon Age. Also it's election day tomorrow here in Brazil and I'm stressed as fuck, so let's do this... Tell us about a work of fiction you love and that has been influential to you as a writer.

#LateNightWrite in one hour, folks. Just one question tonight because that's all the spoons I got.

I fear there are too many bc they influence me subconsciously and largely piecemeal

- HOMEWARD BOUND: THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY (1993)
- The Moorchild by Eloise McGraw
- THE LAND BEFORE TIME (1988)
- The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
- the Moomintroll books by Tove Jansson

The most influential piece of fiction for me, as a writer, must be LOTR, particularly, the themes of sea and earth.

Totally understand being sad about Bioware! 🫂 And ahh! Election stress!

One work that was very influential for me was Legends & Lattes. I didn’t really understand what cozy fantasy was until I read it. It really expanded my horizons! 💛

Hello, #LateNightWrite! I am also in mourning for Bioware.

Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect have been hugely influential to me as a writer. Mostly by making me more comfortable writing queer characters, but also by giving me so much inspiration.

Also RIP Mass Effect 5, you looked awesome.

#LateNightWrite I already posted about this when the news broke but Dragon Age has been and is extremely influential to me as a writer. From how I build my characters to how I handle humor within the darker aspects of stories like Shadows Rise. I feel like I learned and grew so much just by 👇

The most influential is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. That was my first RPG that I ever played and it’s been an inspiration base-line for everything I’ve ever created

I loved Tamriel’s lore and I see it as like the ultimate building block

I've been inspired by so many works of fiction. Let's go back to the first.

Transformers was the reason I started writing fanfiction. I was thirteenish when the first bayverse movie came out. They weren't good, but I saw something in them. I should watch Prime again.

I'm bummed about Bioware too :/ I hope your elections go over well.

The Anita Blake series did a lot for me when it came to growing as a writer and exploring darker erotica in general. And I'd be wrong not to include Undertale, since writing in the fandom is what brought me *here*

Like so many, Dragon Age was hugely influential, especially Morrigan. Other works that are part of my make-up as a writer are Gemma Files' short fiction, the movie Tombstone, Black Sails, and the research I did on the folklore of vampires as part of my MA thesis.

the list goes on and there are surely a lot more movies that should be on it, but. if I tried to come up with all of them we'd be here all night

usually it takes me rewatching something as an adult to go "...wait. was this formative media for me??"

I actually have a list with explanations on my website
But if i had to, I'd narrow it down to The Secret Garden, the Avonlea books, Jane Austen, Tolkien, & Lewis

Horror writers don't switch it off between projects. The eerie detail you slip into a "normal" story is the same muscle that makes a haunt land—you're just turning the volume down. Writing scary is a practice, not a mood. #WritingCommunity #HorrorWriters #LateNightWrite
