Also, it's another example of this thing I'm always yelling about: democratic leftism, progressivism, and liberalism have developed an unfortunate ick about using effective (and affective) propaganda and yield the space to fashy weirdos. I've seen it said that American leftism "feels more like a fandom", but American conservatism straight-up IS a fandom, and the shit they get up to these days is significantly more embarrassing than even the most annoying 2017 libposting.
