there's other frontends for those who still want something integrated that uses libretro because libretro is actually still pretty cool

Heads-up, peeps. If you enjoy the sweet snowfall and interface of ZSNES but not its inaccuracy and hacky ways of doing things, there's a version called ZMZ that uses Libretro cores of SNES9X (included) or BSNES for its emulation but retains the interface.

Awful organization that demands emulator devs hand over all their work so libretro can claim ownership and control. Duckstation dev nearly quit the scene over the harassment.

Wow! I actually managed to make a libretro core and run it on my SF2000! 🤓

I can't even imagine making a full game—it's so hard!

Getting keyboard and audio working in the amd64 libretro core version of Electroniq went smoother than expected. Here is Flappy Bird in RetroArch with the Mega Bezel Amber shader 😎

okay wow, I just found that sometime in July this year, the libretro core for PS2 went from almost unusable to *really* good

it even supports supersampling down to native (something that PCSX2 is weirdly stubbornly against) so you can get a flawless vibe that's still way cleaner on modern screens

install retrobat which comes with multiple options for emulators for most systems and just don't use any of the libretro cores, this way you still have a library

Furthermore, the Azahar libretro core is now available for download directly from RetroArch!

finally now it can become vaporware and/or yet another libretro frontend but with a different guy who might not even know how to program, hopefully one that's not a bigoted shithead

So now I have 3 separate 64bit libretro (RetroArch) core versions of Electroniq, running all at once on Windows 11 in this video. Windows core on the left, Linux core (via WSL2) topright, and Android core (via BlueStacks) bottomright. Investigating touchscreen input on Android version now...
