Was the pregnancy a phantom too? (This is not a book I am likely to read, so I don’t care about spoilers).

High spirited performer Madlyn Rhue (born today in 1935) turned heads in Operation Petticoat (1959). She had loads of supporting roles on television – with a guest part on Star Trek in 1967 (in the “Space Seed” episode – penned by Carey Wilber) likely the most notable. Rhue passed in 2003.

Oddly fitting to choose the RE engine to alter and mutate into something that will likely inevitably erode them from the inside, turning their reputation into a shambling husk of their former selves

I knew when I decided it was time to (for keeps this time) transition that this was a likely outcome.

It still sucks.

I can list twenty reasons we were incompatible.

It still sucks.

I'll come out of this stronger, happier, healthier, more self-possessed. Not self talk. I will.

It still sucks.

Impeached more likely. I hope the indictments for bribery are already drafted. This bastard should spend is retirement in prison.

Geographers probably ought to stay in their lane as they likely know very little about climate science.

And no shit, when there is a massive demand for something, it will be met. That shouldn't surprise anyone. People are rather partial to personal transportation and cheap electricity.

@egonw wow! Perhaps your collaborators are more likely to be found on Mastodon?

Unfortunately, the same query replaced with my ORCID gives zero output. Although I do not know how high the number should be, it should definitively be > 0.

I’ve done LinkedIn queens for 686 days running. I think it’s because it’s low effort, I share my results with one specific friend who does the same so we have that gentle competition, and I’m likely going on the site anyway. Any one of those drops and I would too

Hamilton: We managed to put it all together when it mattered most. Tomorrow will be a very different challenge, with tyre management likely to play a big part, but it’s great to be starting on the front row.

With one month until the midterm election, I'm re-sharing my April 2024 @cfr.org contingency planning memorandum on "Preventing U.S. Election Violence." Political violence is likely around the 2026 midterms. The more we prepare now, the better.
Preventing U.S. Election Violence in 2024 | Council on Foreign Relations
Violence around U.S. elections in 2024 could not only destabilize American democracy but also embolden autocrats across the world. Jacob Ware recommends that political leaders take steps to shore up c...

Ive seen the disclaimers a lot on streaming ads, it is absolutely devastating how 90% of the advertising out there is AI now 🥲

at least market research seems to agree that customers are less likely to like an ad when they know it's AI generated lol

How does Sony justify removing purchased content online from their subscribers because license agreements have ended? They should have negotiated licenses in perpetuity or provided a physical product.

This is likely why Sony now decided to stop selling physical copies of games moving forward.

Now, cons can still absolutely pay for advertising and such!

But full on donations are likely not a good idea with current legal frameworks
Since FA is technically a for-profit entity, furry conventions (mostly nonprofit) would quite possibly get in trouble if they sponsored it; funds are supposed to advance the giving nonprofit's mission, which is usually education/charity.

Unless FA becomes a nonprofit, cons' hands are tied.

IF Claude (or more likely, some later, different version of AI) should ever become “conscious” in the future in some way intelligible to humans, that being’s consciousness would be very different from ours. And IF it developed a “morality,” that would be even more alien.
