A #wildfire that broke out on the Greek island of #Chios on Tuesday is still raging. According to the Fire Service, coastguard boats and private boats have been evacuating people from Limnia and Agia Markella beaches.

Areas northwest have also received evacuation alerts.

Toller Thread! Ergänzende Frage: Ich hab fürs Aquarium vor Jahren mal ein Anti-Algenmittel gekauft, dessen Inhaltsstoff Kupfer(II)sulfat gewesen ist. Neben den Algen wurden bestimmte Pflanzen (z.B. Vallisnerien, Limnia und Hygrophila) auch vernichtet. Unterscheidet sich das stark von Kupfersulfat?

a slender brown insect on a green leaf. it has long pokey mouthparts that are likely moments away from piercing into that aphid. Micromus sp., a brown lacewing a small fly on the end of a blade of grass. it has red, banded eyes, some stripes along its thorax and abdomen, and funky lil antennae. Limnia sp.? a small and very fluffy lump on a green leaf. could easily be mistaken for cottonwood fluff or some other plant matter, but it's a caterpillar, and those hairs will cause you pain if you touch them. Megalopyge sp.

The true flies (Diptera, not fireflies) that did for my Hadra were prob Sciomyzidae. Adults of many species lay their eggs on snail shells and the larvae act as parasitoids or predators or a bit of both. (It's a fine line.) (8/13)
