Limiting factor for Russia will be that they need to launch at 50000 feet and they will be seen at 400km distance by GlobalEyes which can conveniently direct Meteor by Link16 directly to the engagement area at maximum limit of engagement of Meteor carried by JAS 39.

En fait le principal est d'utiliser des données fournies par d'autres appareils/systèmes via le Link16 pour ne pas faire tourner le radar actif.
Y compris pour verrouiller des cibles.

Y compris pour verrouiller des cibles.

I think it would be a non recognition by the link16 of the Canadian planes. Without the connection the plane is lost, no localisation, no warning and the arms rendered useless.

They forgot to mention that the test where the F-35 comes 1st was don in secret and bias toward the F-35. The Link16 system does not work within the artic circle and the F-35 has problems to perform when it's -15 and worse.

My favorite thing about the F35 is that thanks to link16 (soon link22) it also acts as a forward deployed stealth AWACS platform that can be used to guide almost every piece of smart ordinance onto their targets, especially those fired from other systems.

My favorite thing about the F35 is that thanks to link16 (soon link22) it also acts as a forward deployed stealth AWACS platform that can be used to guide almost every piece of smart ordinance onto their targets, especially those fired from other systems.

What's surprising is that it took this long for Embraer to start promoting this. Everybody's looking for cheap anti-drone, and the Tucano has FLIR/laser designator, AGR-20/APKWS, and Link16. What it doesn't have is dash speed for multiple engagements of spread-out swarms.

Both Rafale and Gripen is supplied with the US Link 16 datalink for sale to NATO and closely US allied countries.
But both Rafale and Gripen has its own independently developed datalink for export to other countries.
Europe should develop interconnect between those systems so the link16 isn't needed
