Also lionfish are venomous, so there's even more hazard involved there. Somehow I doubt that Mary Peltola has a venomous lizard as a pet.

Best I can do is love art and support the people that make that happen. @helixel-illustrations.com did another gorgeous piece for me. This time for my little murder mermaid.

Best I can do is a fish guy but even though he's one of the heroes, it ain't about him.

the patrick stewart thing that sticks in my brain the most is how annoyed he was about livingston the lionfish in his office because humanity was supposed to have advanced beyond keeping living creatures as trophies/decor, and he was right obv but it genuinely never occurred to me until he said it

My YouTube algorithm is getting filled with a guy rating tinned fish, a guy who finds bottles in rivers and lakes, a guy who hunts lionfish, and multiple cooking channels. And the occasional musical thing. I've found a niche that I quite like, I think.

If the Lionfish Extermination Corps's YouTube channel has taught me anything it's that some fish like us very very much.

They have a big ass grouper that they're friends with. It's so cute.

Also don't worry, the Lionfish in question are invasive in the waters they dive.

#Florida divers broke tournament records this summer by taking 36,187 invasive lionfish out of state waters during the annual Lionfish Challenge. It's still just a drop in the bucket compared to the total number of invasive lionfish. www.mysuncoast.com/2026/10/22/d...

I think the lionfish situation is kind of cool, but I understand the stress involved kinda sucked out the fun. It was like, THE FISH MUST EAT and you just get to throw food at it until that happens.

Invasive species can upset the natural balance of ecosystems and a lack of natural predators and diseases makes them hard to contain. If you can't beat them... eat them? @sfubiosciences.bsky.social professor @redlipblenny.bsky.social explains: time.com/article/2026... 🧪🌎 #marinecology
Can We Eat Our Way Out Of An Ecological Disaster?
