No captions so I'm lipreading this one and *fuck* that smirk.
Joni Ernst, at her town hall last night.

When the crowd said people will die due to Medicaid and SNAP cuts, she said: "well we all are going to die." 🫠🫠🫠🫠

I hate most about this video is the white man overbite on the dictators face for half a second. Where are our lipreading people? You know he is saying something vile.

7. "One title card = one line of dialogue" is a more subtle misconception you see in modern attempts to mimic silent films.

Title cards stopped the action and were used only when needed. Otherwise, pantomime or lipreading were the default.

And a little game called the Cuss Word Puzzle.

Wearing a mask in 2026 feels like being a walking Memento Mori, as well as a reminder of disability.

I.E. bus drivers that have hearing loss and don‘t know they’ve been lipreading passengers for years.

But instead they blame my diction/volume which is very funny if you know the roles I play!

Anyway, watch silent movies! The filmmakers are in collusion with you to put one over on the Chicago Board of Censors! Put on your thinking caps and brush up on your lipreading skills!

Dangers of lipreading/eavesdropping: sitting in the lobby of karate watching a lady talk about her kid puking in her bed and panicking about why said kid is in class with my kids....
then realizing she'd been talking her cat 💀

Controversially, Bell was a strong proponent of oralism—using lipreading and speech therapy rather than sign language.

Through his articles and speeches, Bell’s emphasis on oral education had a major impact on how deaf children were taught.

Had a question about lipreading: was it really a thing?

Yes, indeed. Besides the films themselves, there was a fair amount of discussion on the matter in industry and fan magazines.

Photoplay claimed the movie-honed lipreading skills led to an epidemic of "eye dropping" on private conversations.
