271 years ago, on the 1st of November 1755, Lisbon was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7. In combination with a tsunami and fires, the city was almost entirely destroyed. The timing (All Saint's Day) and the destruction of many churches caused speculation of divine judgement. #otd 🗃️
