After a career spanning major television franchises like MasterChef, My Kitchen Rules, and even Dancing With The Stars, Matt Preston is shifting focus to a more contemplative project. His latest endeavor, Plating Locally for SBS Food, sees him journeying across Australia and New Zealand to spotlight the passionate growers, fishers, and artisans behind exceptional local produce. Unlike his previous high-energy roles, this series embraces a slower pace, allowing viewers to savour the stories of those who cultivate our food culture. Each episode takes Preston to different regional hubs, where he connects with farmers, winemakers, and chefs, emphasizing the deep connection between land and cuisine. The show’s creators aim to provide a meditative experience, encouraging audiences to pause and appreciate the craftsmanship behind everyday meals. Preston reflects on his journey, noting that this project aligns with his roots as a storyteller rather than a spotlight-hogging personality. With episodes set to premiere in August, Plating Locally promises to be a heartfelt celebration of Australia’s culinary heritage and the people who sustain it.
