Activity for the Lyrids meteor shower begins today. The peak is on the night of 22nd to 23rd. The source of Lyrid meteors is the dust stream laid down by comet C/1861 G1 Thatcher, which last appeared in 1861. It is not expected to return until the year 2276. #Lyrids #LyridsMeteorShower #Astronomy

I caught 2 #Lyrids overnight 22/23 Apr '26, one at 23:40BST the other at 01:18BST. Both were caught on our SW facing meteor camera. My dew band failed so my lens fogged up at 2am. #Canon1100D + 18-55mm lens, ISO-1600 13sec f/3.5. #Oxfordshire, UK #LyridsMeteorShower #Meteors

If you've not seen the #LyridsMeteorShower (darn clouds) you might still catch them tonight. <a href="http://apod.it/140424" class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link="bsky">http://apod.it/140424

22nd to 23rd: Peak of the Lyrids meteor shower. With the Moon sitting away from the radiant and setting in the early hours, this year is a reasonable one to spot Lyrid meteors. Under a dark sky it might be possible to see around 5-10 meteors per hour. #Lyrids #LyridsMeteorShower #Astronomy
