September 2024 U.S. Video Game Market Highlights from Circana - Projected U.S. total spending on video game hardware, content and accessories fell 6% during Sep 2024 when compared to a year ago. The decline was driven by a 44% drop in hardware spending and a 3% dip in content.

Sales of the console were never noticeably or significantly impacted by the PC releases existing, and Ghost of Yotei finished at #11 in tracked full game $ sales for the year in the US, so can't even say that assumed non-exclusivity hurt it either.

PS4 Pro fun facts... in the US, PS4 Pro accounted for 13% of total lifetime PS4 units, and about 15% of dollars. Total PS4 unit volume trend did not change significantly when PS4 Pro released, but average price went up. Succeeded at driving incremental sales to the super enthusiast (not mass) base.
