I think, counting noses, the Board's about evenly split on the Commissioner's proposed strategic plan, which he doesn't appear to think they need to approve, and a number of them are clear they do.

#MAEdu, there is a special meeting of the Board of Ed today about the strategic plan www.doe.mass.edu/bese/docs/fy...

(this was the one they scheduled mid-meeting last week, as some complained they had insufficient time to discuss the strategic plan in light of accountability results)

That the longest-lasting result of the 1965 report on desegregating Massachusetts K-12 education is *precisely* the individual family action the report warned would never be sufficient is a pretty telling condemnation of Massachusetts education policy and politics.
