"Kathi Roy (district E) is requesting that the district acquire volunteers to operate elementary school libraries."

Yikes

Absolutely not

#WorcPoli in a nutshell
Cities do not really have democratic control over their own police departments and Dem politicians nervously pretend like they don’t notice this.

Walk around Worcester - where can you find to sit?

#WorcPoli
"Benches are where optimistic visions of civic life meet reality. To remove them, or to curate who gets to sit, is to abandon the work of defining a civic ideal and determining, together, how to live up to it."

NEW: Why benches are slowly disappearing from public spaces — and why we need them back:
The Disappearance of the Public Bench
Benches are microcosms of an expansive debate about who belongs in urban public spaces. When they are removed or made uninviting, we lose more than just a place to rest.

Will we see a similar statement from Worcester's Mayor?

I won't hold my breath.

If only someone, or many someones, had told Worcester this.

Repeatedly.

Protected bike lanes have a near-magical ability to produce cyclists.

This new study of 28 US cities finds that census block groups w/protected bike lanes expanded bike commuting almost 2x faster than those w/standard bike lanes & >4x faster than those w/o new lanes.

I am genuinely worried that Worcester leaders don't understand or care what this means for colleges like WPI.

This will be devastating to local economies, too.

Worcester underestimates how important international students are.

#WorcPoli
There will probably be far fewer foreign students on college campuses nationwide this fall following the Trump administration’s crackdown on international visas.

A new report predicts international enrollment will decrease by 9.5 percent this fall.
Foreign student enrollment will fall nearly 10%, report predicts
A report released this week forecasts a decline of about 111,000 international students at U.S. colleges and universities.

Any of the officers who flagrantly broke the law and public trust going to be fired? It's just words so far.

All the hysteria and rhetoric that consumed a community around these bike lanes ended and now no one talks about them and people use them (including those with mobility devices) all the time for work, school, play and everything in between. Change is hard for some people but we all adapt.

Pretending the issues at hand are "national" so that they can wash their hands of it is as cowardly as it is inaccurate.

#WorcPoli
“I share in the public’s frustration of what is happening at the national level…”

Eric. My man. You HAVE to know that last night’s protest was about what you and your police have done at the LOCAL level.

Like, please. You do understand that, right? Right???
