MCMs can be a little dark sometimes or a bit dated .... but that one is full of light and art like an MCM should be!

The USN's current mine countermeasure is supposed to leverage USVs cus we only have a single squadron of MH-53s with sleds left, but neither the LCS's with the MCMs nor the Sea Dragons are in theater iirc

Two LCS hulls have countermine packages.
The USS Santa Barbara is with the 5th Fleet in Bahrain, and the Canberra seems to be off the coast of India. There are four Avenger MCMs for minesweeping, but they’re all 7th Fleet; the four 5th Fleet MCMs were decommissioned in, uh, September 2025. Oops.

5/ And on the Strait of Hormuz, they had NO PLAN. I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the Strait, but suffice it say, right now, they don't know how to get it safely back open.

the problem is the waters are still credibly mined, Iran doesn't know where the mines are, and the US isn't in a position to have cleared safe passageways for at least several more weeks best case (which assumes Iran would let the MCMs go to work unhindered, which is not the current state of play)
