Most abortion ban "exceptions" aren't exceptions at all, explains @davidnhackney.bsky.social in this excerpt from his new book.

These "crumbs of autonomy" only provide doctors with a potential defense against criminal charges—not actual protection.

I would argue that ectopic pregnancy isn't rare. This recent review in the @nejm.org puts the prevalence at 2 % of pregnancies in the USA.
