Today's #ootd is this 1830s dress. @MDHistory states that the purple silk damask was from the 1740s. Again, fabric was reused as it was expensive and valuable. Here it was recreated in the classic 1830s style of a bell shirt, fan-pleated bodice, and gigot sleeves. #Fashionhistory

"Ann Benvenga's Halloween Window, Gough Street, Highlandtown" gelatin silver print ----- [from MDHistory] ----- From the Collection: This collection consists of 219 black and white photographs taken in East Baltimore from 1976 to 1980 as part of the East Baltimore Documentary Photography Project by Linda G. Rich (1949-1998), Joan Clark Netherwood (1932-2021), and Elinor B. Cahn (1925-2020). The images depict various subjects including religious and ethnic communities; local businesses and factories; portraiture of community members; the interiors and exteriors of houses; and general geographic shots of the city. Item titles taken from verso of photograph or from the published book “Neighborhood: A State of Mind." Included among these photographs are some well-known Baltimoreans such as Johnny Eck (1911-1991), an early American filmmaker and actor in the 1932 film “Freaks;” Edith Massey (1918-1984), an actress known for her collaborative work with the filmmaker John Waters; and Joe Poodles (1909-1982), a boxer who contributed to the early 20th century boxing profession. The photographs also include several cultural events such as the “I Am An American Day” parade, which was held annually by the East Baltimore neighborhoods to celebrate immigrants that had received American citizenship. Additionally, there are several photographs of arabbers, street vendors who sold their wares on horse-drawn carts along the streets of Baltimore.

Good morning. It is 7:30 am and I love the way morning sun lights up the rippled glass of this historic farmhouse. Such drama! We are looking at the east side of the Hamilton Willard Shafer Farm House in Burkittsville, MD. I still refer to it as the old Motherway place.

We are looking at the east side of a historic pale yellow two-story brick house. A bare tree casts faint shadows on the bricks. The morning sun reflecting on the rippled glass first floor window makes it appear as if a fire is burning inside this 1820s house. The property was used as the headquarters of Union Maj. Gen. William B. Franklin during the Battle of Crampton’s Gap on September 14, 1862. Three days later, the Battle of Antietam began, on September 17, 1862.

神戸ファッション美術館で買った型紙がまさにこの感じだ。胸元と袖のタックの入れ方、袖のふくらみ。1830年代のロマンチックスタイル。
薄手のプリント生地で作りたいな〜と思ってたけどこういうしっかりした生地も重厚感あっていいね。背面がギュッとギャザー寄るデザインだったからキツそうだけど。
しかし買ってから気付いたんだけどこの型紙1/5なの。原寸で売ってくれぇ😂ひとまず拡大コピーして作れるものか先生に判断してもらう。全ては今のコートが完成してからだけど。
