Currently working on the story of Lance Corporal Albert Mewburn Bradshaw, who died being transported in the Japanese Hell ship ‘Ho Kuru Maru’ which was sunk by torpedo bombers in 1944. A story of needless cruelty.

RIP.

See if you can find his name on Keighley’s Second World War memorial panel…

I thought I was picking up a nice, compact book with some sage advice on communicating research but this book is actually a gateway to an ever growing tbr pile, thanks to the interesting recommendations at the end of most chapters! @thesiswhisperer.bsky.social

Have you seen or are you part of the work that the Inger Mewburn has been doing on neurodivergence in research. There was a big survey that went out earlier this year I think.

EU’s new gene-editing rules open the door for CRISPR
The EU has relaxed its rules on gene-editing. Now, only some gene-edited crops are regulated by the stringent GMO directive. Those that are not are, with a few caveats, more or less regulated like conventional crops, according to Mewburn Ellis's Ben Tolley. This could provide opportunities for CRISPR, since crops using the innovative gene-editing technique were before this regulated under the EU's GMO regulation.
