One reason historians and political scientists are so weirded out by this moment is that Congress -- whose leaders have long fiercely defended their own power and prestige, even against presidents of their own party -- is now led by Republicans who have completely neutered themselves.
I have almost as much contempt for the people who keep reelected these boot-licking non-entities who don't want to do their damn jobs as I do for the boot-licking toadies themselves.
