In this quote,Leonardo da Vinciexplores the idea that the mostcreative and innovative mindsdo not always appear to be working in the conventional sense. Instead, their greatest achievements come when they are deeplyimmersed in thought, contemplating theirideasand refining theirconcepts. Da Vinci suggests that, for individuals withlofty genius, the trueworkhappens in their minds, in the form of carefulreflection, mental planning, andconceptualization. Only after this process does the physical act of creation, or putting ideas intoform, occur. The mentalpreparationis just as crucial, if not more so, than the physical execution.
