#MP54
Our MP54 locomotives ran for most of the 20th century, from 1908 to 1972—here's one at our Morris Park facility in the 1950s.

There's something exceptionally badass about regional rail during a Canadian winter night. Even if you're still hungry for more.

>Before adoption it was in development as the MP54, which going out on a limb, was for 1954.

>Sorry, it was originally the HK54, and it was the 4th type of the HK5 family of weapons

>HK roller guns are all built the same, just at different scales.

>This is basically saying "size 4"

Given how different running an MP54 would have been versus being the engineer of a K4 or something, I can absolutely see how this would have made sense in like 1930 as a union agreement

Reason 1: Sealing off the stations would be difficult and costly
Reason 2: You need conductors anyway for the doors on the trains. (These trains were not automated in the least.)

To illustrate this, here's a photo from the Transit Museum of the trains that got inherited from the PRR next to an M1

The PRR MP54 served Philly from 1915 until 1981, at which point they promptly withered into dust and blew away. The S-IV has also yet to beat the record of the Reading Blueliners, which served Philly from 1931 to 1990. In other words, these fuckers are gonna have to keep running until they explode

Chargers are the most viable option until someone goes out on a limb for something new. The MPI MP54 is a standby if the Chargers become unsustainable.

True, though the Swiss trains will have final assembly in Montreal. No company makes passenger locomotives in Canada anymore. GO’s last MP54 locomotives were made in Idaho.
But the running of trains themselves contributes to the Canadian economy regardless of where they’re made.

Productive shopping at this weekend's train show at least. Bunch of good deals yesterday (including on a brass LIRR-spec BM60), and today managed to snag a couple of MP54s (which I've been looking for at reasonable cost).

You laugh, but I think the Mexico 68 scheme could look decent on MU cars if you made the scheme horizontal (or vertical?), PC repainted a number of theirs… Good luck finding MU cars that aren’t brass, a complex kit, or require building from the ground up (or that aren’t the Con-Cor MP54)

MPI MP54 certainly would have been interesting
Metrolink would have had to waited a few more years for ether to be an option

Is that the first time an MP40/MP54 has gone that far west (the London extension trial was operated by F59PH because of weight limits on the St Mary’s bridge)?
