I see groups with heavy ties to MS vendors still having a big presence, but (US)HUPO provide better proteomics content IMO. Aiming for Canada this fall, HUPO and MSACL (if I haven't lost all of my travel funds by then).

I think ASMS, HUPO, ABRF, MSACL, etc... do a good job at recognizing the role instrument vendors and reagent companies play in our community while also trying to recognize and manage COIs. There are rules about transparency and I believe most people take them seriously. There are obviously outliers.

I adore the 'fit-for-purpose' approach followed in the clinical arena.. Have attended many talks hosted by MSACL where people talk about how even red/alk becomes an optional step if it's not improving the sensitivity of their target peptides.. Not every step has to be global proteomics compliant..
