Exactly 5 years ago *today* #MadeiraDrive #Brighton was the 1st UK #Covid #ActiveTravel scheme! @brighton-hove.gov.uk's swift action to restrict 🚗 🛻 🚚 helped people enjoy walking, wheeling & cycling during #Lockdown. I was there with @brightonargus.bsky.social www.theargus.co.uk/news/1839174... /1

One issue was that the legal position of #MadeiraDrive is complicated - but the main reason is the parking income which councils of all parties weren't willing risk.
