We began the #Nippur day expanding the city wall trench to examine a large wall built against it, but we must have angered Enlil because the wind was fierce. Switched some workers to removing thorn bushes in advance of magnetometry. A difficult eye-burning day. 🏺

Nope, not hitting the gym. It's time to drag out all the non ferrous clothing! Day one of four consecutive in the field with volunteers, doing magnetometry!

Our first results from excavations at Qach Rresh in Iraqi Kurdistan are published! QR is a site founded in the rural core of the Assyria at the empire's height (c. 700 BCE). It was likely used for administering rural production.
