My half bother is a 6’6” marine corps colonel and when he was a bouncer he just had stand up off his stool to break shit up. Bit of an exaggeration but not by much. No one wants to test those dudes. That said my brother likes to cut it up on the dance floor more than throw hands

Bottom trawlers logged more than 37,200 fishing hours in a protected zone in 2025, an act akin to 'a bulldozer tearing through a prized national park'. #ResistanceEarth

NOAA scholarship gives students deep dive into research
As a high school student, Jose Solorzano was split between his interests in land and marine science. But the summer before his senior year, he took a field course in coral reef ecology that intrigued him. Wanting to learn more about the oceans, he decided to attend the University of Miami to study at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science. Last summer, Solorzano had another pivotal experience as a Hollings Scholar when he spent 10 weeks in Honolulu, Hawaii, at a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) laboratory, studying how datasets are detecting changes in dissolved oxygen throughout the North Pacific. He tracked how oxygen distribution storage is changing over time and impacting the habitat of species such as bigeye tuna. Those experiences helped confirm his interest in becoming an ocean scientist. “It’s been life changing,” said Solorzano, now a senior studying oceanography. “There’s so much I’ve learned that I’ve already used.” As Solorzano wraps up his Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship, five more Rosenstiel School students have been selected for NOAA’s prestigious program for undergraduates interested in the earth sciences. Over the past five years, several students from the University have received the honor, so Mohamed...

I read 53%, an incredible amount of service members. When you are not a white straight male you may have promotions held up, treated poorly, raped, forced to take hormones. This is the worst treatment I have seen of service members in my time. I was a Marine in the late 70s, this shit didn't happen.

Subsea data ctrs produce noise that stress marine life, interfere with communication, & disrupt mating/parenting. Physiological stress from increased noise leads to reduced reproductive success in marine species. So maybe come back when you have a degree in environmental sciences or marine biology.

Bottom trawling a marine protected area is an absolute fucking failure by all involved
Isn't it amazing that activists have to do this? Why in heaven's name is bottom trawling allowed in *protected areas*?
PRESS RELEASE: Activists aboard the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise have placed giant boulders to block bottom trawling across 116 km² of the Southern North Sea Marine Protected Area.

The UK government must ban destructive fishing in ALL protected waters.

While this is a cool phenomenon to witness, we must remember that this is because of warm currents due to El Niño and climate change. This is not normal.
