VERY good news on this front, everyone, thank you for well wishes, the biopsy for the Mysterious Lump causing Mastitis From Hell has come back benign! I still have the mastitis from hell but I do not have breast cancer. it has been a very long week and a half.

Teats have a hole in them… it goes into the mammary gland, with lots of milk/food for bacteria in the gland ducts.
When bacteria start growing in these ducts, it's an infection called mastitis. It hurts like HELL.
Wading in poopy water much of the day? GREAT way to give your cows mastitis.

My brother said it was the mastitis that did it for him. He worked on a big dairy farm in Washington State in the early 70s.
