In 2025, researchers from Italy’s University of Catania found types of rock on top of hills in Sicily that must have been carried there by the floodwater.
Those hills were well over 100 metres high - & yet the flood still roared right over them.

An update on the Zanclean Megaflood!
In 2025, researchers from Italy’s University of Catania found types of rock on top of hills in Sicily that must have been carried there by the floodwater.

That's what you get from the rapid passage of massive quantities of water, when harder rock is left exposed as softer surrounding material is violently scoured away - with the longer end of the island pointing down-flow.
