My son's little league team, "the Downtown Tigers", this week faced "the Assyrian Charioteers". A rain of arrows ended the game in the first inning, and things only worsened when towering siege engines rose above the horizon. These boys wore only baseball uniforms, against the might of Mesopotamia.

Slavery dates back over 11,000 years, before the Neolithic Revolution as agriculture created higher populations. The earliest written records appear in Mesopotamia and Sumeria (such as the Code of Hammurabi around 1754 BCE), though the practice existed for many millennia before writing was invented.

True enough. But moral failings aren’t the only historical consideration for various reasons. At the time, for example, Slavery was still “legal” in most of the world since Ancient Greece & Mesopotamia. Women were property married at 12 yrs, and life spans were only in the mid to late 30s for most.
