#Mesoproterozoic
I'll keep an eye out for that review. Do you not consider any of the late-paleoproterozoi to Mesoproterozoic multicellular fossils as complex? E.g. the 2024 algae from China. My interest comes from working on mid-proterozoic fossils, + trying to fit them into a wider context.

Cranberry Gneiss, Mesoproterozoic, 1.05 Ga; Appalachian Mt.s, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences

Gneiss is a metamorphic rock that high temp & pressure have caused the minerals in granite to separate into light & dark bands. The light bands are quartz.

Finally, this large piece of Belt Supergroup mudstone was right on the trail. My foot tramped on something created during the Mesoproterozoic 14.7 to 13.8 billion years ago, “a world of gigantic sheetflood alluvial aprons & shallow seas or lakes, for which there are no modern counterparts."

Calymmian (Geological periods 🌍)

The Calymmian is the first geologic period in the Mesoproterozoic Era, lasting from 1600 to 1400 million years ago and spanning 200 million years. It follows the Statherian Period from the Paleoproterozoic Era, and precedes the Ectasian Period. Instead of being […]

This isn't an erratic. It (& many others that are similar) is lodged firmly within the Mesoproterozoic mafic intrusive complex.

You have the Great Unconformity in New York too, for instance on the flanks of the Adirondack massif. Not sure how well exposed it is, but there's a similar magnitude discrepancy between the ages of the Mesoproterozoic anorthosites there and the overlaying Cambrian sandstones. ⚒️
