i had a messageboard friend years ago who was Asian American and said he used to message her when she was 15. so that really soured me to the band.

There's something distressingly reminiscent of Ender's Game in the way the world order is at risk due to some early computer messageboard nerds who got it wrong.

When I do the October horror movie thing I stick to the old IMDb Horror messageboard (RIP) rules of; 31 movies - at least 16 of which have to be first-time views.

Might be a tough year for the first-time views, quality-wise.

I used to hang out on the Radiohead messageboard just to learn how much Radiohead sucked ... good times to be honest!

Remember when the scandals were just the occasional plagiarism or racist rant on a messageboard? Now we get real scary sexual assault and AI agents flooding our networks with stolen slop for money. It's like, the bad things exacerbate at the speed of tech.

In case anyone whom are curious, here Euran Zean Dotar's Bio for more details. For interesting note I had created him for dimar dragon

Ages ago there was a guy on a messageboard I frequented who had an electronically augmented instrument he called his "backbone," for "feedback trombone"

I just realized that "skyline" for "bluesky timeline" has the same abbreviation structure!

Onmiskenbaar vergevorderde intelligentie.

I think both things can be true depending on your entry point? The experience of someone wading into the general cesspool of something like star wars on twitter is incomparable to someone whose first contact with fandom was some tiny ffvii messageboard in the 90s. I didn't see flame wars

Had no idea it was on vinyl. I remember downloading it at work back in the day, probably from a messageboard somewhere. Surprised to see it's available on the 'Cogs.

Yeah ideally (or not) we'd all be on some kind of UK/Ireland Millennial Left Media walled garden social media site or messageboard, it's just the nature of things that all conversations pile on top of each other now

The threat was over a deleted comment in a cosmetics messageboard. 🙃

This reminds me of when I was at the BBC running the Messageboard system, and the 606 football board had loads of wankers being awful, and apparently arranging drug deals. Investigations revealed they worked at a call centre, and the BBC was one of the few sites their firewall allowed.

Years ago I read a messageboard thread about a female-fronted Britpop-era band which attracted the response that of course no-one *really* liked their music, they just pretended to because they fancied the singer. Someone replied naming another band who they felt the same applied to...
One of the funny paradoxes of women musicians being accused of pandering to the 'male gaze' is that for the most part, while they may be happy to ogle pictures of them, male fans of music seem to view sex appeal as an additional artistic demerit/girly mark that means they can't listen to their music

It's interesting to me so many of these overlapped each other. My first fandom platforms were very firmly sequential (Squirrel's Nest messageboard, Scullyfic mailing list, Livejournal) but in the 2010s when the whole world got online it got more complex

I think I was on DW by then, had been LJ before that since 2001 (while simultaneously hanging out on a messageboard for BPAL fans), and LJ overlapped with the end of mailing lists, and before that in the late 90s it was an X-Files messageboard and Usenet...

If I recall correctly the BBC Messageboard had a separate section for Omnibus listeners, but it wasn't much used.
The situation with the teasers for upcoming episodes has always been more contentious.

Mega is a big fan of the World Wide Web. She helps run/buils a blog and messageboard. She's not as used to having a cell phone and texting as Bryce is because she just got one for the first time. She keeps forgetting to bring it with her.

Chat on the Internet, also know as COTI, or Team COTI was an AOL chat room, and later also a PHPBB messageboard and LiveJournal community that were active between 2004 and 2006. Its founding members w...
