It’s a way of creating metahistory basically; a myth of transcendence and escape from a present that’s illegible and scary.

For me probably Husserl, Phenomenology of Internal Time Consciousness; Jameson, Prisonhouse of Language; White, Metahistory; Deleuze, The Fold; Adorno, Minima Moralia. I know... a bit eclectic.

Really interesting 2 revisit in a different world (1988/9 - way before the ‘happy 90s’, the 2008 slump & the ‘14/6 rise of algorithmic politics, etc). Also, reading thru Derrida’s Spectres & White’s Metahistory: political economy overdetermined by poetry, irony, etc. Going 2b quite an experience. 2

“was an amalgam of ordinary language analysis and philosophy of science in the Logical Positivist vein”. This is possibly an anachronistic description of Danto's. The White of “Metahistory” and most of the 1970s was firmly anchored in structuralism, not poststructuralism. (8/20).
