#Metamodern
I had VIP wristbands for Sturgill at Stubbs right after Metamodern Sounds came out.

it's like a sort of nostalgia distortion, taking recognizable brands from the early 2000's and transforming them into secret metamodern masterpieces. taking vacuous franchises and imbuing them with an imagined narrative value, as if they had left us /anything/ instead of a capitalist wasteland.

In case you missed it when it came out my piece in Muftah had been posted without the paywall. www.muftah.org/p/prospects-...
Prospects of the Metamodern [Free to Read, Paywall Removed]
What elements of postmodernism should we preserve, and what must we discard? What defines the metamodern—what it is and what it is not—and why does it matter?

it ain’t all flowers, but as i drop off the brow of the mountain and cross the bridge, the late evening sun streams down through the clouds hanging low over the river, and johnny blue skies has all the metamodern fuzz in his pedal blasting in my old radio.

No shame. My first time seeing him was his tour last year. The new album is the only one I know well. Though I did give Metamodern Sounds and the Sound and Fury Netflix thing (awesome) runs back in the day. It’s still on Netflix fwiw.

AI is just the culmination of all of this. Perhaps, god willing, it is the breaking point. The end of the enlightenment and the birth of a new romantic period. Some say we've moved through modern and postmodern, and now we're in a metamodern period, where we freely switch between the two.

I’d probably start with Metamodern just to lay a foundation about his old more dream country sound then move on to the two newest more southern boogie coke rock albums which will be most of the set. Guy will go from bluegrass to Molly Hatchet in one song. Also consider taking mushrooms.
