A March 3 explosion at the location of the now sunken Russian LNG tanker Arctic MetaGaz in the Mediterranean Sea was captured in mid-infrared optical imagery from the geostationary Meteosat-12 satellite. Visualisation: @simonsat.bsky.social/ESA. Data: EUMETSAT

What does one satellite look like from another's point of view? On 18 Jul we found out!

MTG-S1 & Meteosat-12 share an orbital slot 36,000km up & sometimes cross paths. The IRS on MTG-S1 caught Meteosat-12 over Timbuktu, Mali. ⬇️

The image is low-res, but you see Meteosat-12's solar panels/antennas.

The Meteosat-12 satellite captured this space perspective of the partial #SolarEclipse yesterday morning 🌍🌑🌞

In a partial solar eclipse, the Moon moves between Earth and the Sun, partially blocking the sunlight 🧪

Coming up tonight at 19:19 BST/20:19 CEST: the September #Equinox! This image from Meteosat-12, taken this morning, shows Earth near the equinox - when the terminator appears as a straight line dividing the planet into equal halves of light and dark.

A stunning view of the partial #SolarEclipse from #space! 🌒

Captured by @eumetsat.int's Meteosat-12 satellite, you can see the Moon’s shadow sweeping across Earth between 06:00 - 12:30 UTC. 🛰

Unlike a total eclipse, part of the Sun remained visible - did you catch it from the ground? 👀
