#MicroDotBlog
Great thing about working with other people like Vincent is sometimes they go behind your back and do crazy things you wouldn’t have done like port Wavelength to the Mac. 🤪 I still need to figure out how best we can officially support and maintain this. Focus! But in the meantime it’s open source.

I’d like to know what tool supports that!

The only one I know of is MicroDotBlog

@hilarybaumann.com does your tool matrix know???

New on my site: a nostr relay for myself. whilst I don’t use it much, it’s cool to have my own personal backup of posts on an “experimental” protocol… and it’s super lightweight. and migrating my #microdotblog posts from j4ck.xyz → posts.j4ck.xyz!

Thanks! I had tried to search for it but I was searching for “microblog” not “microdotblog.”

With a bit of luck I’ll be posting to my “micro” Custom Post Type from Microblog apps sometime this week.

Ignore that last reply, the links accidentally went to GitHub’s Bluesky profile. The repos are: microdotblog/microblog-mac and microdotblog/microblog-react.

@billseitz in the post you linked, it’s a Bluesky post which does it natively (no markdown)

MicroDotBlog also supports rich text and syndicates to AP and ATProto with their native rich text

it seems like the other apps all support microdotblog and only microdotblog specifically, which is especially disappointing to me because microdotblog doesn’t give you any access to frontmatter, post URL formatting, or the git repo for the Hugo site

I am increasingly using #microdotblog to publish out across Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads and other places. And using #surfsocial to browse content from the same, in one UX – plus blogs, plus podcasts, plus RSS. Open Social Web FTW!

@manton - Is supporting App Passwords on the roadmap for #microdotblog for your BlueSky cross-posting support?

Achievement of the weekend was refining my rss feed to show micro posts as titleless posts in the micro. blog timeline. Had it working last night, but fully rebuilt it today as I broke something with … #indieweb #microdotblog

And that mess of a post isn’t an example of cross posting, but rather typos in posting this to @microdotblog. It’s all PEBKAC.

I did almost tag it for cross posting, which would have cross posted from BOTH networks.

Yes my setup is too complicated, thanks for asking.

I discovered yesterday that the @MicroDotBlog desktop MacOS app has support for importing a data export of your Instagram account.

I’m working my way through importing a chunk of photos at a time. Instagram was iOS only, so my account starts with my ... (...)

well, it displays correctly on the blog, messing with the JSON Feed so that it makes it to @microdotblog and on to Twitter correctly :) https://blog.bmannconsulting.com/may13-online-homebrew-website-club/

This is not one of those “quitting Facebook” posts, but I did want write about using Instagram and cross posting to FB, after I post to @ATBRecipes or via @microdotblog https://blog.bmannconsulting.com/on-instagram-off-facebook/

Being intentional about your information diet is important.

My _one_ reservation with @microdotblog is that you can’t easily move off it.

But: it supports standards like MicroPub and ActivityPub. I can even use the iOS app to post to my own site.

I’m going to work on making apps that support these standards easier to host.

I’ve also had several people ask me about my recommendation for what tools to use. My own Micropub setup is too complicated ;)

I’ve been recommending @microdotblog — use it for short & long form content & it can automate cross posting to Twitter, Medium, even LinkedIn!
