The glitches started small. $5 here and there, always in the strangest of ways.

Then money started showing up in my bank account. 🧵

Healing from trauma is a long, slow realization that becomes more embodied as you become disciplined in self-forgiveness.

Here's how I've been observing that cycle in myself recently... 🧵

When I was six years old, I watched the neighbor jump to his death, and I felt relieved to know, then, that you could always choose to take your own life.

I observed the memory in hindsight for 28 years before wondering why a child would be relieved.

The brother—
scuttling around
in the attic.

The sister—
a lunatic, muttering to herself,
living on the streets.

We don't talk about it.

Be very sure,
you 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘢𝘴𝘬 about it.

Simply pretend
they are not our own.

I suppose they've died;
no one's ever said.

#MicroMemoir technically applies I guess. 😂
In 2008, as I was graduating HS, the theater department went to NYC to see Phantom of the Opera and generally stomp around the city.

My best friend and I went to the M&M store, and on the bus ride home he drove our teacher nuuuuts by quoting Greg the Bunny every time he got a green M&M. 😂

In my experience, déjà vu is a breadcrumb.

A memory, a past version of you tucked into the folds of time—on purpose.

You caught a glimpse of the future.

Once upon a time, teenage me was at a pet store when a five- or six-year-old pressed his face against a cage and excitedly asked his mom what the floofy creature was.

“It’s a chinchilla,” she said.

“OOOOOOO, CHURRILLA!!” he growled.

They’ve been churrillas to me ever since. 😂

Listening to the new Marilyn Manson album and thinking about May 13, 2003…

The Golden Age of Grotesque was released that day, and my mother would have preferred that I not acquire it. (Soft disdain)

I was seventeen years old before I saw a couple who actually seemed to be together because they liked one another.

My step-dad remarried not long after divorcing my mom, and I remember being stunned at how different he seemed.

But it was really lovely.🧵

Today has been a ten-ticket thrill ride of emotions, with a lot of supplementary big picture thoughts I couldn't focus on, so they ended in a kind of swirling cloud of smoke. 🧵

I've told Bluesky about several of my frog dreams.

GOOD.

I was just out on a midnight stroll, and as I walked down a path, dozens of tiny frogs started hopping out in front of me...

I see frogs out there regularly, including this guy from the other night, but— 🧵

I remember reading this cover to cover one night when I was nine years old.

By morning, Anne Frank felt like a close friend. I became obsessed with learning about World War II and concentration camps after that. 🧵

On this date in 1947, Anne Frank’s "The Diary of a Young Girl" was first published, appearing in the Netherlands under the title "Het Achterhuis" (“The Secret Annex”); it became a classic of war literature.

She was actually not my mentor on purpose, really.

I had another mentor originally, who became more of a research partner.

And that person is very lovely…🧵

#ThoughtJournal #MicroMemoir
A cycle I experience, which I think is so cute, is that my mentor is this old woman who is like…

If my maternal grandmother had really been able to let her neurodivergence unfurl with self acceptance.

If my grandmother hadn’t been trying so hard to be “normal.”

It’s a nice re-do.

Humans are always negotiating the unseen spaces between one another.

The real work is not in bridging every gap, but in noticing the architecture of our shared illusions. 🧵

This has nothing to do with the poem, except for the title. 😂

In my early twenties, I worked at a car dealership.

One day, my manager/friend's high school drug dealer came in to buy a car.

He bought a Dodge Caliber and asked me out.

My manager protested loudly...🧵

What’s it like inside your head?

***

I remember saying:

“Wow. This is what it’s like in my head.” when I watched this movie with my step-dad for the first time.

I was 9 or 10.

He responded, “maybe don’t tell people that.”

And now here we are. 😂
