Urgently seeking help from #pwME #pwLC :

Who tests for & treats microclots in UK (outside of research studies)?

It’s been suggested I have microclots in my lungs and that this could have contributed / caused my life-threatening saturation event.

Any thoughts on this?

Thank you @thewhn.bsky.social, for giving me the best mentors in #LongCovid research!
@resiapretorius.bsky.social is one of them, and everyone should follow her pioneer work in LC and blood clots! Thank you for the microscopy tips!♥️🔬

San Francisco researchers show that 150 kHz ultrasound shatters amyloid microclots linked to Long COVID.

Adding microbubbles and rtPA boosts the effect, suggesting a noninvasive therapy to restore blood flow and ease chronic symptoms.

How Long COVID Research Could Change the Way We Think About Blood Microclots
This article explores the discovery that COVID-19 can induce widespread clotting in the blood of patients.

This is a virus that crosses the blood-brain barrier.
It causes microclots, neuroinflammation, and neuron death.
And yet the public message is:
“Just get it and move on.”

New preprint from #TeamClots:

“The increase in smaller microclots post-exercise suggests microclots do not behave as static entities but can undergo structural changes in response to physical exertion. This has critical implications for…exercise-based rehabilitation strategies in #LongCovid”

Can lumbrokinase break down microclots found in the blood of participants with long COVID and/or ME/CFS? Past studies have shown that the formation of microclots in the blood may contribute to overall symptom severity in these patients. We're working to learn more!

This is Dr Rae Duncan, she’s a cardiologist and expert in long covid. Long covid can affect anyone of any age. Now this video is an emotional watch but she essentially talks about COVID infections and how they cause blood vessel damage. 🧵

"Many leading experts describe COVID-19 as a vascular disease... Some studies have also found microclots in people with Long COVID as well as impaired vascular dysfunction, meaning cells lining their blood vessels were damaged."

We're oh so familiar with microclots, etc, at our house.
COVID-19 can trigger life-threatening clotting conditions, including pulmonary embolisms (PE). This week at The Sick Times, Anna Wenner writes about how medical gaslighting contributed to long-term lung damage when she went to the ER with a PE after being infected with SARS-CoV-2. bit.ly/44JkULK

A new study suggests that exercise doesn’t clear microclots in people with Long COVID—it just fragments them into smaller ones. These smaller clots are linked to increased inflammation and impaired oxygen transport, which may help explain PEM & PESE—the worsening of symptoms after even mild effort.
