A new study using four genetic loci alongside morphological analyses has identified and described four previously unknown fungal species: 𝑀𝑖𝑐𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑜𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑢𝑚 𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑎, 𝑀. 𝑏𝑎𝑖𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑒, 𝑀. 𝑏𝑎𝑚𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑎, and 𝑀. 𝑏𝑎𝑚𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑎𝑟𝑢𝑚.

#Rhizoctonia cerealis is traditionally associated with the stem base disease sharp #eyespot in cereals, causing lodging and empty white ears, but @RumianaRay has recently shown it can also cause damping-off much earlier in the season in UK as Microdochium and Fusarium sp.
