I‘ve been lucky enough to only get a mild case but boy would I have loved to skip having a weird, midwinter sunburn.
Mind boggling we are going backward right at a moment when we may be on the cusp of having many new vaccines for diseases that kill and maim millions.

He doesn't wake up early enough to realise that many people in Washington are already getting up in the dark to go to work/school & that it will be dark until nearly 8am in midwinter if DST is maintained.

Nobody likes the changes, but they don't like the result of not changing either.

Reminded too of CS Lewis' essay on Christmas where he identifies 3 Christmases: 1. Christ's Mass (Christian), 2. Christmas (secular/midwinter celebration) and 3. Xmas (commercial nightmare grown up around (2).

And I have no issue with trees and lights and all of that - but decorating for a midwinter festival is something MANY cultures and religions do. They’re not specifically Christian, yet the “specifically Christian” parts of the “Christmas season” are the parts they have no actual interest in.

Sunrise has now definitely moved south of that roof and is visible from the bedroom window. By midwinter it will be well off the right edge of the picture, behind the cement works.
