This is one of the amazing views from Middlesmoor, in Nidderdale. In the foreground is the top of St.Chad’s church, with Gouthwaite reservoir lower down the dale.

The Crown, Middlesmoor 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Annual visit to this Nidderdale pub, the last pub at the end of the Dale. Beautiful scenery and an unspoilt Inn. 5 Yorkshire real ales on cask is more than previous visits. Busy and noisy at the bar with regulars. Life's alright sometimes, innit 🍻👍

Second of the videos from yesterday in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
I didn't get Middlesmoor/Scar House section, which was fine until the final descent; bloody rough & steep, wouldn't make it uphill.
This one begins alright, nice views and so on, but the sting is in the tail.🥴

A beautiful walk in Upper Nidderdale today. Starting at How Stean Gorge, up to Middlesmoor, Scar House Reservoir, over Dale Edge, into Lofthouse, then back to How Stean.

I’ve a friend who lives near Middlesmoor, the drive from
Patley Bridge is wonderful. Amazing part of the world.

If you want somewhere fairly close to Harrogate and have transport, I'd recommend either Coverdale, or the top end of Nidderdale, around Lofthouse or Middlesmoor. You can get into Pateley Bridge easily for civilisation, but beautifully isolated.

Will see if I can find it later. I know it was early 19th century Middlesmoor (West Riding, now N Yorks) & I think the surname was Teal. Collateral, not my direct line, but it’s a useful example.

A quiet corner of Yorkshire Dales on a stunning Sunday in June - 11 mile circuit of moors and valleys, saw 10 people and one Landrover. Blissful.

Is that the Middlesmoor Scar House reservoir walk?

When you find one, please ask them to investigate as to why you never post photos of Nidderdale? It seems to me (who spent many happy childhood holidays in Middlesmoor) to be severely under represented in your posts.
