#Mitigations
Going to do a detailed writeup of the outage this week. Just need to land some mitigations before we talk about it

Seeing an awful lot of people sick with Covid right now.

Many saying “Covid is back”.

It never left. That’s why some of us are still advocating for mitigations.

Every infection is a dice roll with disability.

Wear a mask. Clean the air. Stay home when sick.

Remember: if anyone says, 'we need to live with Covid' but doesn't also talk about vaccines, therapeutics, and mitigations, they're not actually saying we need to live with it, they're saying, 'I want to ignore it'.

context: this morning's cloudflare outage was apparently due to RSC CVE mitigations

The right is pushing this narrative because it’s the only place they can blame liberals — their actual goal — and gain purchase among elites.

The *actual* mistakes during the pandemic all originate on the right: lax lockdowns, weak mitigations and low vaccine uptake

EXCL: Huge tranche of Mandelson files being published on Monday shows no record of national security mitigations before he started in Washington.

Security officials were sufficiently concerned they recommended he was denied clearance - but sources say Mandelson was *not* asked to take mitigations.

It's wild to think we're going into year 7 of this mess and somehow big media & govt's have normalized alienating anyone who uses health mitigations
6 years ago today: A man in Wuhan, China starts feeling ill, becoming the first confirmed case of COVID-19

1. Serious mitigations ended more than 4 years ago. Why would immunity debt only kick in now? And why wasn't 4 flu seasons without mitigations enough to repay whatever "debt" there was?

Another goal of the covid conscious lesbian bar hit piece is to make disease mitigations a basis for mockery and social ostracization

So that when the next plague/mass disabling event happens (and more are coming), the "surplus" population will die off that much faster and quieter

OpenAI has confirmed that sometimes GPT 5.6 could make "an honest mistake" and delete your home directory. It's recommended to enable sandboxing protections including auto review to protect against this problem while OpenAI works on mitigations. 😬

Covid is a social justice issue.

Mitigations like masks, anti virals, air purifiers and tests cost money.

We should have free respirators in public places. Mandatory masking in hospitals. Clean air benchmarks. Paid time off.

Those steps would drastically reduce spread.

Wait please i forgot my mitigations at home

7. Another prevailing false dichotomy is centred around absolutism / all-or-nothing thinking. That is to say, conceptualising mitigations as either present or not, rather than recognising that mitigations exist on a spectrum of risk. Risk cannot be reduced to zero.

We inadvertently drove one of the circulating strains of influenza extinct in the wild even with the weaksauce mitigations that we abandoned far too soon.
It’s never too late to start masking again.

It can be daunting to mask back up when no one else is bothering, but your health is worth it.

Every Covid infection is a dice roll with disability, and a good respirator like an N95 stops chains of transmission.

You’ll also get less colds & flus!

Early COVID mitigations showed us the power of collective action.

The environment began to heal.

People with disabilities were accommodated.

An entire flu strain was eradicated.

Folks reconnected with their local communities.

We worked together & saved lives.

it is extremely interesting that the two scenarios which Cohn analyzes for the 2024 election are the following:

(1) the polls are right, because mitigations to contact Trump voters or weight towards them have been successful;

(2) there is a Trump landslide, because those mitigations haven't been

The New York Times obit for Alice Wong doesn’t mention Covid or Gaza

It ignores two of her biggest causes because of political bias

Alice fought tirelessly for Covid mitigations

She fought for the people of Gaza

She rightfully reminded us that the genocide in Gaza is a disability justice issue

"Immunity debt" becomes increasingly absurd as time passes since mitigations ended and the impacts of more and more infectious diseases continue to get worse.

I use my mitigations
#wolqotd #wolquestion

mostly for the player: do you have any weird quirks while playing that kinda make sense but if someone saw you do it, they'd be like ???

for me it is that if i get a commendation i blow a kiss at my screen and wave a little

COVID can and does cause organ damage and this damage is cumulative with additional reinfections. Please act urgently with layered mitigations. @eddavey.libdems.org.uk

I feel like stuff like this is too often overlooked in discussions around technology-based mitigations of climate change. If we use tech innovations to make it easy and convenient for people to use the “greener” alternative that already exists, they’ll use it.
