All hail the new monofocal transitions
Because I'm American, when I got a cataract in one of my eyes last year (at 29!) the *only* thing the health insurance I pay $700/month for would cover was the monofocal implant. Laser? Not covered. Surgery center? Not covered. A multifocal lens implant or fixing my astigmatism? Wouldn't be covered.
Growing up, my family lived below the poverty line, and no one on either side had ever gone to university.
Starting as a young adult, I’ve needed 13 surgeries and procedures over 3 decades to save my eye sight.
Because I was born in Canada, I was able to earn an excellent education, and I can see.

I paid US$600 for a lens providing a deeper field of vision.
I'll be paying US$1300 for a lens with that + astigmatism correction.
For monofocal lenses, it's entirely free, though you'll definitely need reading glasses.
I'm optimistic I'll regain my short-range vision.

45 is like a switch! One solution to needing both distance and reading is monofocal contacts - especially good for like professional academic etc situations when you need to constantly shift from reading the room to reading the notes.

It's finally happening! The lens I ordered to be my everyday lens in early November finally shipped! Coming from Japan though so it's still a couple weeks away, but I'm excited!

Para la operación con lente intraocular es indiferente el grado de presbicia, se elimina el cristalino con lo cual ya es la máxima. Pero la lente monofocal solo corrige a una distancia, para el resto, gafas.

No, la de cerca solo es un monofocal, es decir, solo enfoca a 40cm. El ocupacional tiene dos focos, a distancia ordenador y lectura

La pública solo pone monofocal. La de rango extendido tipo Vivity puede costar alrededor de 3000 por ojo, solo la lente, que no cubre ninguna mutua. La cirugía... Según si hay catarata y la mutua cubre, pero como operación refractiva (solo para quitar gafas) es otro pico.

Por GES el implante es solo monofocal en Chile, pero no es que no haya cobertura para tratar las cataratas en el sistema público y sin costo.

I get highest index polycarb bifocals (not progressive) and zenni usually works out being cheaper BUT noticeably lower quality in terms of being fitted for my eyes. So instead I use them for monofocal lenses like my computer or driving glasses.

Fazer multifocal foi um dos vacilos que mais me arrependo. Não me adaptei, diferença de grau entre perto e longe deixou o ângulo super desconfortável. Além do preço ter saído dez vezes mais caro que o monofocal que fiz depois e CINQUENTA vezes (sério) mais caro que um que fiz pra leitura esse ano.

Fazer multifocal foi um dos vacilos que mais me arrependo. Não me adaptei, diferença de grau entre perto e longe deixou o ângulo super desconfortável. Além do preço ter saído dez vezes mais caro que o monofocal que fiz depois e CINQUENTA vezes (sério) mais caro que um que fiz pra leitura esse ano.
Para la independencia de gafas hay que implantar una lente trifocal (que no me gustan por los inconvenientes), de rango extendido (que es la que pongo cuando las condiciones son adecuadas) o monofocal plus. En ese orden de más a menos independencia de gafas de cerca (pero siempre mayor que con mono)

I wasn't so smart but my eye surgeon said I won the lottery: monofocal toric lense corrected lifelong astigmatism and gave me 20:20. On the 2nd day I could resolve HDTV screen pixels from 2 ft away! She was not only exceptional surgeon but 5 yr pancreatic cancer survivor doing great.

Bueno, habría que analizar el tipo de uso, pero sí, como norma general, monofocal de lejos para el día a día y ocupacional para trabajo en oficina
