These Nordic noir books are set in Sweden and make me hungry for cinnamon buns, gingerbread, torta cake, saffron buns, moosemeat, boiled potatoes, pea soup, sausages, and lingonberry jam.

A surprise perk of spending time with New Mexico family is that the local PBS channels include FNX, First Nations Experience, where you can stumble upon great shows like Moosemeat and Marmalade, or Finding Nemo dubbed over in Diné.
Now you, too, can enjoy this content from anywhere!
Ya'll FNX has just released a free streaming app for Native content! Just downloaded it and they have some great content up...if you haven't seen The Lesser Blessed or read the book by Richard Van Camp, highly recommend!

"Opening celebration of 'Spirit of the Ancestors,' a retrospective of Terrence Campbell's extraordinary work." What a dope artist! He's so tradish, brought moosemeat & salmon. Terrence & the singers had twinkles in their eyes. I rode home on the bus in my mukluks, feeling alot of emotion ❤️💛🖤🤍

Watching sports recaps, and a Canadian show called Moosemeat & Marmalade, where an Indigenous forager and cook joins up with an English chef and they explore Native and British cuisine.

I know it is expensive, but I can only check it out to get to know it. I already ate Deer Meat and Buffalo Meat.

I thought Moose was the best wild game I had. Until I had caribou. The east side of NL has Moosemeat, the west side has the Caribou, or so it seems. I never ate it until we went to the west side

You had all those flight delays and travel time to go somewhere else with snow?
How bad is your fever? LOL
Glad you got there safe. Don't forget to declare your moosemeat when you fly back

I was born and raised in South Africa but spent 9 years living in Corner Brook, NL.. your thread just brought waves of nostalgia- toutons, Tipp’s Eve, mummering, bottled moosemeat, and the sweet potato/ sausage/ sage dressing (NOT stuffing!😂) that I still make - thanks for bringing it all back🥰

Will have to check it out! Have you watched Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat? Highly recommend, along with High on the Hog. Also have a soft spot for the tv show "Moosemeat and Marmalade", which is a "reality" show, showcasing Canadian FN food traditions, but really more about a Canadian/Brit cook bromance.

Cormorant was almost all Newfoundlanders, including the CO, I think. anyway, if we looked like we might run out of fuel in two weeks, better stop into Newfy Johns for the weekend and FUEL UP. The only time I remember being asked by the cook what I wanted for dinner on weekend duty. I said Moosemeat

I adopt phrases. But my influences come far-and-wide. In two regions I lived in Germany, each had different expressions & dialects. In Quebec, from Cantons-de-l'Est to Montréal, idiomatic expressions are different. I've been on French ships, & Newfoundland Ships. I'm near fluent, and love Moosemeat

do you know David Malysheff of Gamut Productions in Victoria? He has worked on productions with local First Nations and on the show Moosemeat & Marmalade. I think he'd be a good contact. gamutproductions.com/portfolio
